What does feminism mean to you?

By: Takara Small

It’s Canada’s Women’s Month and here at McClungs we’ve decided to celebrate it by profiling one remarkable woman each week that has made a difference in the fight for women’s rights. (This week co-editor-in-chief, Ronak Ghorbani profiled Canadian activist Ann Hansen.)

Below is video of well known writers, public speakers, actors and actresses discussing the importance of feminism.

Check it out and let us know what feminism means to you by leaving a comment.

  1. Being a feminist is being able to express who you are and being able to share it with the world. I have come a long way to where I am today and I was never more proud to being a woman!

  2. A feminist not only supports women but supports humankind. Being a feminist means standing up for the equal rights for all people. It also means treating the female body as a sacred, beautiful vessel of life and that only I, as a woman, should have control over it. Being a feminist means I’m going to be loud and unashamed about my beliefs and I’m going to stand in solidarity with women all over the world, not only in my city but in places where oppression is much more visible and harsh than my own experience.
